Karen Stout

Chair, MTSD Board of Trustees (3-Year Term, Expires 2027)

I grew up in Highgate but have lived in Milton with my husband Tim since 2008. We have two sons that are 12 and 15 years old. I graduated from Castleton State College and I work as a nurse for Bayada Home Health Care. I also spend a lot of time being involved with the PTA and other activities around the community.

Jeremy Metcalf

Vice-Chair, MTSD Board of Trustees (3-Year Term, Expires 2026)

I was born and raised in northern Vermont. I'm a UVM graduate and have lived in Milton since 1999.
My wife, Sarah, is a staff member at Milton High School. Our two children are all currently attending Milton Schools.
I work for Sodexo at St Michael’s College. I also volunteer on the Governor’s Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities.

Scott O'Brien

Trustee, MTSD Board of Trustees (1-Year Term, Expires 2026)

I grew up in Connecticut and came to Vermont in 1990 (yes a flatlander, please don't hold it against me) to attend the University of Vermont. Having had many different majors over the course of a 10 year journey I received my B.A. in English with an Environmental Studies minor. My wife and I moved into Milton in 2007. We have loved raising our two children who are 16 and 14 in this dynamic community. I have volunteered to coach baseball, softball and soccer as well as volunteer annually for free fishing day, Camp Machia, and for Camp Ta-Kum-Ta during the Yankee Sportsman Classic. I am currently a maintenance supervisor at UVM with some side businesses as well.

Melinda Young

I was born and raised in Colchester VT and moved to Milton when l married by husband in 1999. I have Associates in Nursing and BA in business but now enjoying driving a school bus for Mountain Transit in the Town of Milton for many years. I enjoy doing things for and with my community.

Jack Shannon

Student Representative, MTSD Board of Trustees

I was born in Nashville, TN, and moved to Milton when I was two years old. My brothers and I have attended Milton High School, and we have all had great experiences here. This school year, I will be heading into my junior year. Outside of school, I'm an active figure skater and skier. I also enjoy traveling and hanging out with my friends and family. Inside school, I'm also an active member; I have found myself joining many clubs, like mock trial and student council, for example. I take my schoolwork very seriously and strive to be an exceptional student, and I'm very eager to be one of the student representatives on the school board this year.

Ava Naylor

Student Representative, MTSD Board of Trustees

I was born and raised in Milton, VT. I am a Junior this school year and am eager to continue to advance my work here at Milton High School. I am actively involved with UP for Learning, an organization that collaborates with our school district, and I also participate in various clubs, including Student Council, Yearbook, Rotary Interact, and ALC. It is my mission to make the greatest positive impact on our school community in and out of the classroom. I am a student who is committed to doing her best and striving to always give it my all in everything I do. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and pursuing my passion for competitive dance, which I have been dedicated to since I was three years old. I have a strong passion for making a difference in our district and enhancing our community as a whole, therefore I am beyond excited to be one of the Student Representatives on the school board this year.
