Construction Notice: Milton Innovation Center

Greetings All


The Milton High School Innovation Center construction project is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 26, 2024. The project end date is December 31, 2024. Below is important information to ensure that all members of the organization and the construction crew are safe.


The Construction Zone

  • Stewart Construction is the company who will be doing the long awaited renovation project transforming the old MHS woodshop into a 21st century Innovation Center. Stewart will construct temporary walls separating the work zone from the high school learning environment.
  • The temporary walls will create a hallway for students to access the art and media classrooms. This will be the only wing in the building that is affected. The exterior doors in that wing will still be available for use in an emergency situation or any scheduled drill. 
  • Stewart will have a secured construction office trailer on the premises located next to the maintenance shed.
  • The construction site's outdoor work area will be enclosed by fencing. 

Building Access

  • The Stewart Construction team will be required to maintain a daily sign in. 
  • They will use a separate entrance and will not need to access the high school learning area for any reason. 
  • The Site Superintendent, Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager will be the only members of the crew with a key badge that accesses the door entering into the construction zone. This is to ensure full oversight and safety of the project at any time of the day and week. 
  • For daily use, all students and staff will use the main entrance only for the duration of the project

Parking

  • The lot behind the MHS which is accessed by Brandy Lane (parking lot B) may only be used by Stewart Construction and Contractors, MTSD Nutritional Services, Custodians, Maintenance and the School to Work Programming and their vans. 
  • Parking Lot B is off limits to any personal employee and visitor parking for any reason, any time of the day during the duration of the project. Violators will be towed. 
  • All vehicles including personal employee vehicles and the driver’s education car must park in Parking Lot A via Rebecca Lander Drive.


Bussing:

  • All buses will enter via Rebecca Lander Drive.
  • Buses that normally pick up students out front will continue to do so.
  • Buses that normally enter via Brandy Lane will now enter via Rebecca Lander Drive and make a right turn onto the Fire Lane Loop. Student pick up and Drop off will be at the back of the school.
